How is Photo Validation used at Universal Beijing Resort?

Universal Beijing Resort uses photo validation technology to verify use of certain theme park ticket products – making it faster and more seamless for you to experience our service.

We scan your facial image with your permission the first time you pass a turnstile. You may also choose to pre-upload your photo after purchasing tickets online. On subsequent visits we will rescan your facial image to verify that your admission is validated. This information helps facilitate re-entry and prevent fraud.

Children (under the age of 14) should use photo validation technology with a parent or guardian’s consent.

What information is collected as part of Photo Validation?

Photo validation technology is a system capable of verifying a person from a digital image. It compares selected facial features to an existing image source. It is similar to a person checking a photo ID, but uses a faster and more automated system. The photo validation system collects a digital image. From that image, the software builds a template. A template is a set of data points based on facial features. Both the digital image and templates are securely stored by Universal Beijing Resort on premise for up to 6 months upon the most recent collection.

Are guests required to use photo validation?

You may visit Guest Services to opt out of the Photo Validation process. You will be instructed to carry and show a photo ID. We will validate your entry with a visual check.

How we protect your photo validation information?

We protect your photo validation information with the protective measures described in the Universal Beijing Resort Personal Information Protection Policy. In particular and for the purpose of ensuring that your photo validation information is safe and under control during its collection, use, storage and deletion, we have signed strict personal information protection agreements with the technical service providers we engage, requiring them to adopt technical and organizational measures that comply with the requirements of laws and regulations and follow good industry practices. In the unfortunate case of any information security risk or incident, we will immediately initiate the contingency plan and take remedial measures. If your personal information is affected, we will promptly notify you of the situation, assist you in safeguarding your rights and interests, and pursue the responsible parties and hold them accountable to the full extent of the law.
