Various Birds in the Woods, Bringing Surprising Experiences to the Blockbuster World

Universal Beijing Resort's dedication to creating a green resort has received a sincere response from nature. In its opening year, with 170 hectares of green space and 86,000 square meters of public ecological wetlands, Universal Beijing Resort attracted more than 80 species of wild birds. As of now, the number has reached 127 species, including Class I nationally protected animals such as the Yellow-breasted Bunting, Black Stork, and Great Bustard.

As more birds visit Universal Beijing Resort, these small creatures have become an "unique aspect" of the blockbuster world. Every spring and autumn, flocks of migratory birds stop by the Universal Beijing Resort to rest and recuperate. The movements of the birds in the trees, some still and some active, also attract bird photography enthusiasts to capture their images. The appearance of the Long-eared Owl brings an even more surprising experience for guests. The long-eared owl belongs to the Class II nationally protected species. For three consecutive years, long-eared owls have been observed inhabiting Universal Beijing Resort. Their presence has excited many guests and sparked enthusiastic discussions on social media.

The vibrant scene of birdsong is inseparable from a lush and blossoming environment. Universal Beijing Resort carefully maintains a variety of plants that enhance the immersive experience for guests while optimizing habitats for wildlife. From the tropical plants of Jurassic World Isla Nublar to the grasslands of the Scottish Highlands and the trees of the Forbidden Forest in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, the plants in the seven themed lands are meticulously arranged, distinct in style, creating a thriving immersive experience. On both sides of the waterway, Universal Beijing Resort uses local plants to build eco-footpaths, offering guests and surrounding residents vivid colors in spring, summer, and autumn, and evergreen trees in winter.

Love and Technology, Empowering a Green Resort

Behind the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature is the constant love and dedication of the team members of Universal Beijing Resort. Upholding the concept of proactive care, minimizing disturbance, and providing timely assistance in wildlife conservation, birds within the park, whether rare or not, receive full attention and care. During daily inspections of the resort, team members actively identify and rescue injured birds, and contact Beijing Raptor Rescue Center, Lovebird Association in time to provide professional treatment for birds in need. When pruning plant branches, team members ensure to leave some fruits on the branches as supplementary food for birds. In areas where birds are most active, team members prioritize the use of physical methods to control pests and disease, minimizing the use of chemical agents.

In terms of plant care, Universal Beijing Resort has established and implemented a set of scientific and efficient management systems to cultivate vibrant greenery in the blockbuster world in an intelligent, meticulous and sustainable way. The resort adopts a leading-edge fully automated irrigation system, that dynamically adjusts irrigation based on real-time data from weather station within the resort. Compared to traditional manual irrigation, this system increases efficiency by 20 times and saves 30% of water while meeting plants’ needs. Each tree in the resort has its own digital file, and can get regular "health checkups" and targeted maintenance or treatment. Since the Grand Opening of the resort, team members have been able to rescue 387 trees through this effective management system.

The love and protection of nature make Universal Beijing Resort abundant in birdsong, flowers and trees. It is the numerous expressions of this love that come together and form the warmth of the blockbuster world.
